The
Reynolds Brothers, also known as the Rhythm Rascals, has a core group
of Ralf Reynolds on washboard, guitarist John Reynolds and Westy Westenhofer
on sousaphone. On their sixth release for the ZaSu label, they are joined
by cornetst Corey Gemme (who gets more inventive each year), Anita Thomas
on reeds and Katie Cavera on guitar. A group that is reminiscent of the
hot washboard bands of the early 1930's, the Rhythm Rascals always make
audiences smile with their humor and relentless hot swing. With each of
the muiscians having opportunities to sing and there being plenty of heated
solos, this version of the band is heard at it's best on "Christopher
Columbus," "When I Take My Sugar To Tea," "Old Man
Of The Mountain,""Borneo" and "Swing That Muisc."
